Also to add onto the previous post, a word about idolizing personal
belongings. Things. Think of it this way: They are unnecessary; only God is
necessary. All is unnecessary and will fall away, but God is necessary for
survival and the perfect joy, peace, contentment, etc…
Therefore, if “things” are unnecessary, you should be
willing to give them up at any moment and not be moved to anger or feeling of
loss. They are unnecessary. Make God the only necessary,
absolutely-you-will-never-give-up thing in your life. This should not necessarily
be applied to relationships with people. People have the Holy Spirit in them.
They are in the image of God. Yes, compared to the ultimate God, there are
times when you should give up a person into God’s hands and walk away. But, do
not simply regard them as easily discardable as you do objects and possessions.
Humans, with the Holy Spirit, have a much bigger capacity to impact you in a
more meaningful, powerful, valuable way. Don’t let that way have no opportunity
if you discard someone easily.
